Ramganga River

• The Ramganga River originates from the Lesser Himalayan mountain ranges.

• This river flows in Uttar Pradesh from the southern part of the Himalaya range in the Kumaon region of Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, originating near Nainital.

• Muslim writers of the medieval period have written this river as ‘Rahib’.

• This river is probably the ‘Uttaraga river‘ mentioned in Valmiki Ramayana, Ayodhya Kand.

• Ramganga river 600 km After flowing, it joins the Ganges in Sawaijpur tehsil of Hardoi district near Kannauj.

• It passes through the districts of Moradabad, Bareilly, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Farrukhabad, Hardoi etc.

• A dam has also been built at Kalagarh to take advantage of irrigation from the river.

रामगंगा नदी

• रामगंगा नदी लघु हिमालय पर्वत श्रृंखलाओं से निकलती है।

• यह नदी उत्तराखंड के गढ़वाल ज़िले के कुमाऊ क्षेत्र हिमालय श्रेणी के दक्षिणी भाग से नैनीताल के निकट निकलती हुई उत्तर प्रदेश में बहती है।

• मध्य काल के मुसलमान साहित्यकारों ने इसी नदी को ‘राहिब‘ लिखा है।

• यह नदी शायद वाल्मीकि रामायण, अयोध्या काण्ड में वर्णित ‘उत्तरगा नदी’ है।

• रामगंगा नदी 600 कि.मी. बहने के उपरान्त कन्नौज के निकट हरदोई जनपद की सवायजपुर तहसील में गंगा में मिल जाती है।

• मुरादाबाद, बरेली, बदायूँ, शाहजहाँपुर, फ़र्रुख़ाबाद, हरदोई आदि ज़िलों से यह गुजरती है।

• नदी से सिंचाई का लाभ उठाने के लिए कालागढ़ में एक बाँध भी बनाया गया है।
