Why in News?
  • At the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in Dwarka, New Delhi, Common Service Centre e-Governance Services India Limited (CSC SPV) commemorated the tenth anniversary of Digital India.
Purpose of CSCs:
  • The purpose of Common Service Centres (CSCs) is to offer digital services and access, especially in rural and isolated areas.
  • It is an essential component of the Digital India initiative.
Establishment and Nodal Ministry:
  • Created in 2006 under the National e-Government Plan (NeGP).
  • The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is the nodal ministry.
Scope Expansion:
  • To improve digital inclusion and provide a greater range of services in 2015.
Key Goals:
  • To provide underserved communities with access to pertinent services in order to achieve digital, economic, educational, skill-development, and social inclusion.

    • Driving licenses
    • Voter ID
    • Birth, death, and marriage certificates
    • Aadhaar
    • PAN cards
    • Ration cards

Management:
  • Overseen by Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), who are locals who have received training and assistance from the CSC Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).
  • The Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) is in charge of the CSC SPV, which oversees the framework for implementation and service delivery.
Accomplishments:
  • CSC has reached almost 90% of the villages in the nation.
Key Announcements Made Recently:
  • Ten lakh people will receive free AI training, with priority for every VLE.
  • Urged all VLEs to begin providing IRCTC services.
  • Vowed to consult with chief ministers in order to integrate CSC-SPV with state IT agencies.
