N. Murthy Rao (born 16 June 1900; died 23 August 2003) was a noted literary figure in the Kannada language. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1979 for his memoir ‘Chitragu Patragu’. He has also written plays and short stories etc. In addition he was the first director of the Kannada and Culture Department, which was headed by Kengal Hanumanthaiah.

 ए. एन. मूर्ति राव (जन्म- 16 जून, 1900; मृत्यु- 23 अगस्त, 2003) कन्नड़ भाषा के विख्यात साहित्यकार थे। इनके द्वारा रचित एक संस्मरण ‘चित्रगळु पत्रगळु‘ के लिये उन्हें सन 1979 में साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था। उन्होंने नाटक और लघु कथाएँ आदि भी लिखी हैं। इसके अलावा वह कन्नड़ और संस्कृति विभाग के पहले निदेशक थे, जिसका नेतृत्व केंगल हनुमंतैया ने किया था।

1606- जहाँगीर के शासनकाल में गुरु अर्जुन देव को लाहौर (पाकिस्तान) में भयंकर यातना देकर मार डाला गया।

1858- प्रथम भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के दौरान मोरार की लड़ाई लड़ी गई।

1903- फोर्ट मोटर कंपनी चालू हुई।

1983 – छत्तीसगढ़ के ‘गुरु घासीदास विश्वविद्यालय’ की स्थापना हुई।

2006 – नेपाल में माओवादी अंतरिम सरकार में शामिल होने पर सहमत।
